WAEC Introduces WASSCE PC1 for Unsuccessful Candidates to Retake Specific Subjects in January

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced a groundbreaking initiative, the WASSCE PC1, aimed at addressing the long waiting periods for candidates who need to resit one or two subjects. This new programme allows unsuccessful candidates to retake specific WASSCE papers as early as January, ensuring they can maintain academic momentum.

The WASSCE PC1 is scheduled to begin with its inaugural exams from January 24 to February 15, 2025, providing a quick turnaround for candidates seeking to improve their grades. Speaking about the initiative, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, described it as a significant advancement in West African education.

“This initiative offers students a timely opportunity to enhance their academic performance without the traditional delay of waiting for the next examination cycle,” Kapi stated.

Prospective candidates must complete their online registration via the WAEC website or authorised internet cafés by January 8, 2025. For the initial phase, exams will be conducted in regional capitals to accommodate a smaller number of participants and ensure accessibility and efficiency.

Benefits of WASSCE PC1

The WASSCE PC1 is set to revolutionise academic progression for students in West Africa. By providing a prompt option to resit specific subjects, the programme helps candidates avoid year-long academic setbacks and stay on track with their educational goals.

“This initiative reflects WAEC’s commitment to supporting student success,” Kapi added, urging eligible candidates to seize this timely opportunity to improve their results.

Students are encouraged to register early and take advantage of this innovative solution to enhance their academic journey.
