The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has begun the disbursement of student loans for the 2022/2023 academic session. This loan, provided under the Federal NELFUND Scheme, totals N52,897,890 (Fifty-Two Million, Eight Hundred and Ninety-Seven Thousand, Eight Hundred and Ninety Naira). The funds have been received from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and are intended for students who successfully applied for the loan.
It’s important to note that the beneficiaries had already paid their tuition fees for the 2022/2023 academic year before the loan disbursement. As a result, the loans are meant to reimburse these students and cover their school fees. Therefore, students should not expect direct payments into their accounts for future disbursements, as the loans are strictly for tuition coverage.
In light of this, the Dean of the Student Affairs Unit has been instructed to work with the University Bursar to ensure the quick and proper distribution of the funds to the beneficiaries.
