School Proprietress Calls on Gov’t and Individuals to Promote Art Education

Mrs. Susan Babatunde, the Proprietress and CEO of Blooming Greens School, Yaba, has urged the government and individuals to prioritize art education by providing schools with resources and establishing dedicated art institutions.

She made this appeal during the school’s annual art exhibition themed “Create It and Care,” which highlighted various art forms, each conveying a distinct meaning and story. The event featured over 400 artworks created by students, with proceeds directed toward charitable causes.

Mrs. Babatunde highlighted the significance of art in nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, which are crucial for economic growth.

Remarks From the Proprietress

Mrs. Babatunde stated that art reflects creativity and intention, emphasizing the depth of an artist’s mind, as their ideas and creations often go beyond the understanding of a casual observer. She encouraged schools to embrace art and urged children to explore it.

She also highlighted art’s potential to generate income and foster cultural exchange, pointing to examples of Nigerian artworks displayed internationally, including some created by Nigerian students that are now in Britain.

Mrs. Babatunde emphasised that by allocating resources to art education, both the government and private individuals have the opportunity to significantly empower the next generation. This investment can nurture a new wave of creative talents and innovative thinkers who have the potential to drive meaningful change in society.
