Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, has urged private universities to maintain standards that will encourage students to develop good character and learn.
While touring the facilities of Amadeus University, a brand-new private institution in Amizi, Ikwuano Local Government, Abia State, Oloyede made a speech.
JAMB’s Addresses The Private University
Mrs. Juliet Aniekwe, the state’s JAMB coordinator, spoke on behalf of the registrar, who urged the new university’s administration to hire competent professors to teach her incoming students.
She said that the hallmark of higher education is research and the development of new ideas. She implored the institution to invest in research so that it can produce scholars who will become famous all over the world. She also encouraged the students to make the most of the peaceful campus setting and realise their goals.
Professor Samuel Nzota, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, stated that its founding principle was to educate students to be sustainable, globally competitive, and practically minded.
In order to fulfil its vision and mission, the university applied to and received approval from the National Universities Commission to offer 19 distinct programs across 13 departments and four faculties. The vice chancellor stated that the university’s primary objective is to provide a supportive learning environment and useful infrastructure so that graduates can find work and contribute to society.

The university has finished setting up systems to digitise all records and results, provide free internet access to all students, and upgrade the web services, as well as the student cafeteria, health centre, and dorms for both male and female students.
The VC addressed the issue of security by saying that the university has taken steps to ensure that cultism and other social vices are not tolerated.
Speaking on behalf of the state’s Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Uche Eme Uche, who was represented by Dr. Nnenna Anyanwu, the ministry’s deputy director of research, school administrators have ensured that students will have an easier time learning thanks to the state-of-the-art facilities and supportive environment.
She went on to say that the state government would spare no effort in helping the new school reach new heights.
While Mr Onyekachi Uguru, an official from the Ministry of Education who was on the inspection visit, praised the university for its investment in modern facilities, he underlined that the school needed to run at the level befitting a university.
In a similar vein, he strongly urged the new institution to assemble a faculty and staff capable of raising academic standards to a level where Abia State could be proudly displayed on the world stage, solidifying its position as one of the top-ranking states in Nigeria for educational quality.
