Minister Announces FG’s Next Course of Action Following Abuja School Explosion – Google Docs

The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mariya Mahmoud, has led a team of security operatives to the community affected by the recent incident, assuring residents of the government’s commitment to their safety. 

During her visit, Mahmoud emphasised that the authorities are working diligently to restore a sense of security to the area and prevent any recurrence of such incidents. She further revealed that security measures have been significantly strengthened within the community and across the Bwari Area Council.

Accompanying the minister were several high-ranking security officers, including the FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu; the Commander of the Naval Unit in Abuja, Commodore T.S. Lengaya; the Commander of the Guards Brigade, Brigadier General A.O. Onasanya; the FCT Director of Security, Mallam Adamu Gwary; the FCT Sector Commander of the NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu; and the Chairman of the Bwari Area Council, John Gabaya. Together, the team demonstrated a unified front in addressing the community’s concerns and reinforcing the presence of security forces.

Remarks From The Minister

Speaking to the residents, Mahmoud acknowledged the fear and anxiety caused by the recent bomb explosion and assured them that the Federal Government is fully aware of the challenges posed by insecurity. She stated that investigations into the incident are ongoing and reaffirmed that additional security measures have been implemented to safeguard lives and property in Kuchibiyu and its environs. 

The minister encouraged residents to remain vigilant and maintain a sense of awareness while avoiding panic or undue fear. She urged them to rely on verified sources of information, cooperate fully with security agencies, and foster a spirit of solidarity within the community. Mahmoud stressed the importance of unity and collective effort in overcoming the challenges of insecurity.

In her remarks, Mahmoud expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims affected by the bomb explosion. She reassured the community that the government is committed to providing the necessary support and resources to enhance safety. 

Finally, she encouraged residents to carry on with their daily activities, emphasising that a return to normalcy is an essential step toward healing and progress.
