A prominent industrialist and businessman, Mr. Olootu Ogo Oluwa Bankole, who served as the Chairman of Mercyland International Schools in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has sadly passed away.
Reports confirmed that he died on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in Abeokuta. The management of Mercyland International Schools made this tragic news public through an official statement, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of their esteemed leader. However, the statement did not disclose the specific cause of his death.
As a mark of respect and in mourning for their late Chairman, the school management announced the immediate suspension of all academic and extracurricular activities for the entire week. In addition, Wednesday, February 19, 2025, was declared a day off, ensuring that students and staff could observe the period of grief.

Following the announcement of his passing, former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun issued a heartfelt condolence message, lamenting the sudden departure of Bankole, whom he described as not only a distinguished businessman but also a fellow kinsman from the Owu Kingdom of Egbaland.
