The Lagos State University (LASU) Management has announced the resumption of academic and administrative activities for the 2025 academic year. Operations resumed on Monday, January 6, following the Christmas and New Year break.
While most staff unions, including ASUU, SSANU, and NAAT, have resumed their duties, the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), LASU Chapter, has commenced a strike action. This decision follows a meeting held on Monday between the university management and the Joint Action Committee of University Staff Unions.
NASU’s strike is linked to the unresolved issue of non-payment of the 50% counterpart fund for the 25%/35% salary increment differentials. The union has declared that the strike will persist until this matter is addressed, with a resolution expected by Friday, January 10, 2025.
Expectations for Students and Staff
Despite the ongoing NASU strike, the university management has called on students to return to campus and attend lectures as per the academic calendar. The management reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a conducive environment for learning and administrative operations.
The university management extends gratitude to the staff, students, and parents for their understanding and cooperation during this period. LASU remains dedicated to fostering excellence and ensuring a smooth academic session.
For timely updates and important information, students and parents are encouraged to follow official LASU channels.
