Edo State University, Uzairue, has introduced a compulsory one-year industrial training program for students in the Chemical and Mechanical Engineering departments. This program emphasizes developing technical expertise in converting fuel-powered vehicles to run on gas.
During the launch of the initiative, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dawood Egbefo, explained that the program aims to reduce fuel costs, increase access to affordable transportation, create jobs, and drive economic growth. He highlighted that the initiative will also help cut carbon emissions and alleviate poverty, aligning with the vision of the University’s visitor, Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

Prof. Egbefo noted that the program is a collaboration with the Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO), the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas, and the Edo State Ministry of Mining and Energy.
