Baze University Awards $20,000 to Best Graduating Student at 11th Convocation

Baze University’s 11th Convocation was a remarkable celebration of academic excellence, as the institution honoured its top-performing graduates with prestigious awards. Leading the cohort of achievers was 21-year-old Farid Aminu Hammayo from Bauchi State, who graduated as the Overall Best Student with an impressive 3.96 CGPA on a 4.0 scale. 

Farid’s outstanding academic dedication and perseverance earned him a $20,000 cash reward from the Chancellor, Dr. Yusuf Baba Ahmed, in recognition of his exceptional achievements. 

In his speech, Farid emphasised the responsibility of his fellow graduates as Nigeria’s future leaders, innovators, and agents of change. His message resonated as a call to action, inspiring the graduating class to contribute positively to society and push the boundaries of what is possible in Nigeria.

The convocation ceremony also celebrated top achievers in the postgraduate category. Susan Chioma Obasi, a Management graduate, and Adeola Abiodun Ayoola, a graduate of Civil Engineering (M.Eng), both attained a perfect 5.0 CGPA, showcasing their commitment to academic rigour and personal excellence.

 The Chancellor offered Susan and Adeola an extraordinary opportunity to choose between immediate employment at Baze University or a fully funded PhD program, affirming the university’s dedication to supporting its alumni in their academic and professional growth.

The 2024 graduating class of Baze University included 749 graduates, with 30 receiving First Class honours. Each graduate’s accomplishments reflect their resilience and determination, celebrating a shared journey that culminates in this milestone achievement. 

With Farid, Susan, Adeola, and many others setting the standard of excellence, Baze University continues to foster a legacy of high academic standards and transformative impact.
