The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that candidates seeking to reprint their certificates will now be required to pay a fee of N50,000. This was disclosed by NECO’s Registrar, Dantani Wushishi, in a statement released in Minna, Niger State.
According to the statement, this fee is subject to periodic review, meaning it could change over time based on the council’s policies and operational costs. The decision to charge this amount aims to streamline the process and ensure the timely and secure issuance of certificates to those who have lost or damaged their original copies.
NECO emphasised that candidates can only request a certificate reprint within one year of the initial issuance. After this one-year window, the council will no longer entertain reprint requests. This move is intended to encourage candidates to safeguard their certificates and promptly address any issues within the stipulated time frame.
In addition to the new reprint policy, NECO has also set a one-month deadline for candidates to submit correction requests for errors in their results. This ensures that mistakes such as spelling errors or date discrepancies are rectified quickly, preventing long-term complications.
This new fee and policy update from NECO is a significant change that candidates and schools must be aware of, as it stresses the importance of keeping their certificates safe. It also highlights NECO’s drive to improve administrative efficiency while providing essential services to candidates across the nation.
The council’s introduction of these guidelines marks an important shift in how it handles certificate reprints and result corrections, ensuring that both are done efficiently while protecting the integrity of its records.
