The Bayero University Kano (BUK) Class of 1992 recently marked its 32nd Anniversary Reunion with a significant philanthropic gesture, donating a total of N3.2 million to support education and healthcare initiatives in Kano.
The donation, presented on December 27, 2024, during their annual reunion, included N2 million allocated for scholarships to assist underprivileged students of Bayero University and N1.2 million designated to aid 15 patients at the Aminu Kano University Teaching Hospital (AKTH) who require urgent medical attention.

The Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, who accepted the cheque on behalf of the institution, lauded the alumni group for their continuous dedication to supporting undergraduates through these yearly contributions.
He urged other alumni groups and organisations to emulate this exemplary gesture, emphasising the critical role such collective efforts play in improving access to education and opportunities for less privileged students. The Chairman of the BUK Class of ’92, Muhammad Dahiru Sa’ad, highlighted the significance of the annual reunion, noting that it serves as a platform for reconnecting with their alma mater and giving back to the community.
During the event, the group presented a cheque for N2 million to the Vice Chancellor to support indigent students and allocated an additional N1.2 million to help 15 patients at the teaching hospital who were identified as being in critical condition. According to him, the group has been consistently organising these reunions for nine years, with a focus on fostering meaningful impact and driving progress through their collective contributions.
Dahiru Sa’ad also revealed that members have been exploring sustainable ways to expand their impact, including potential investments that would ensure long-term benefits for the university and the broader community. He emphasised the group’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening their support over the years.
Engr. Rakiya Abubakar, Vice Chairperson of the Abuja Chapter of BUK Class of ’92, underscored the importance of such reunions and urged members in other states to establish similar chapters. She stressed that these gatherings not only enhance networking among alumni but also expand the scope of humanitarian assistance provided to the university and the community.
Mr. Yushau Shuaib, Managing Director of Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) and publisher of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, commended the collective efforts of the alumni in contributing to societal and human capital development. He highlighted that many members have gone beyond alumni activities to support families and communities, effectively using their positions to promote the greater good.
The BUK Class of 1992 has consistently demonstrated its commitment to making a difference, with contributions valued at over N100 million since the establishment of the forum in 2016. The group’s 30th anniversary in 2022 marked another milestone in their journey of impactful engagement, reinforcing their position as one of the most active and influential alumni associations in the country.
