Covenant University has clinched the top spot in the 2024 Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA) Business Leaders Challenge, reaffirming its business and management education excellence.
The grand finale was at the Bankers House in Lagos, showcasing five finalist teams from top Nigerian universities. Team Analyst from Covenant University emerged victorious, outshining competitors like Team Lot from Nile University, which secured second place, and Team Visionary Titan from Landmark University, which finished third. Teams from TopFaith University and the University of Lagos also received commendation and consolation prizes.
Rewards for Excellence
As the winning team, Team Analyst earned a prize package that includes ₦1 million, access to the prestigious CGMA Finance Leadership Programme valued at £2,000 per participant, and an internship opportunity with a leading corporate organisation.
The second-place winner, Team Lot, received ₦700,000 and a two-month internship, while third-place Team Visionary Titan secured ₦500,000 along with the same internship opportunity.
A Showcase of Talent
The competition challenged participants to address real-world business issues and present innovative solutions to a panel of esteemed judges. The judging panel featured finance and accounting experts, including Dr Seyi Olanrewaju, Mr Stanley Ubani, Mrs Gbemi Adelowore, and Mrs Folake Ogundipe.
Encouraging Future Leaders
Ijeoma Anadozie, Country Director for the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants lauded the event’s role in cultivating future finance and business leaders.
“This year, 57 universities participated, a significant increase from last year’s 30, underscoring the growing interest in the challenge.
