Six exceptional University of Ibadan Master’s degree graduates have been given full scholarships to pursue doctoral studies. On the third day of the university’s 76th Convocation and Founder’s Day ceremonies, these scholars were honoured for their outstanding achievement, with cumulative grade point averages (CGPAs) surpassing 7.00.
Ayomide Adepoju Esther and Abiodun Oyeleye are two of the notable graduates, along with four other individuals whose outstanding accomplishments differentiate them from the 2,868 students who obtained Master’s degrees in a variety of fields.
Remarks From The VC
At the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, emphasised the institution’s dedication to advancing excellence in postgraduate education and research. He highlighted the efforts of the university’s Postgraduate College, which has consistently organised interdisciplinary discussions featuring distinguished academics and professionals from Nigeria and beyond. These sessions aim to share insights on the theme of overarching education and national development.
Professor Adebowale also acknowledged the transformative role of the Postgraduate College in driving innovation and research within postgraduate institutions. He commended the staff and students for their outstanding achievements, noting their significant contributions to knowledge on both national and international levels.
He further praised the students for their perseverance and dedication, emphasising that earning a postgraduate degree in the current era is noteworthy.
He urged the graduates to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained to contribute meaningfully to the revitalisation of the nation’s economy and society.
Finally, the Vice-Chancellor told the graduates to represent the university well and make important contributions to Nigeria’s growth and progress in many areas.
