Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has provided 73,800 three-seater desks to schools throughout the 44 local government areas. This initiative is part of his commitment to addressing issues in the education sector under the State of Emergency on Education.
This was included in a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Friday. At the distribution ceremony at the Trade Fair Complex, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasised that providing furniture is an important part of the ongoing efforts to enhance education in the state, which he views as essential for a thriving society.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasised that the Kano State Government is fully dedicated to providing every child in Kano with a supportive learning environment that enables them to concentrate, aspire, and develop, as pledged during the 2023 election campaign.
The Kano Governor stated that the desks being distributed mark an important step in tackling issues in the education sector, ensuring that students receive the comfort and dignity they deserve.
This initiative goes beyond just supplying furniture; it aims to rebuild confidence and hope within students. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf stated that these desks have been thoughtfully crafted for both durability and comfort, ensuring they will benefit current students and future generations attending the schools.
He urged all community stakeholders to collaborate to maintain the desks and treat schools as centres of excellence. The Governor praised the contributions of more than 11,000 young carpenters and welders who were instrumental in the school transformation project.
He observed that the government focused on promoting local craftsmanship, making sure that young people were engaged in this significant effort.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf pledged that his administration is dedicated to consistently providing the essential equipment and facilities needed to ensure a smooth teaching and learning experience in all public schools throughout the state.
